On Thursday, June 18th from 8:30 am -1:00 pm in Salt Lake City’s Sorenson Unity Center’s (1383 South 900 West) Performance Theater Room, Fathers & Families Coalition of Utah, an affiliate of Fathers & Families Coalition of America will host the 2009 celebration in recognition of Fathers Day’s 100 year Anniversary in America!
In 2009, our Father's Day summit strives to salute and encourage existing fathers, advice and assist new fathers, and redefine what it means to be a father. The Father’s Day committee would like to honor and encourage men across Utah for making the most of their privilege to be father. And for men who have yet to achieve their parental goals, we salute them for taking the responsibility & steps to your new future. Together, all fathers and organizations at the summit will reconnect, rebuild, restore and reawaken the passion to serve our families and communities.
Families are encouraged to submit photographs reflecting fatherhood with an essay for a photo exhibit that will be on display throughout the summit. Please describe, in 100 words or less, what it means to be a man, or a father, a brother, a husband, a partner, an uncle, or even a grandfather? What does it mean to be a friend as a man? Submit photographs and essays to Frank Bedolla at bedollafran@aol.com.
Brought to you by Frank Bedolla, Fathers & Families Coalition of Utah; Ned Searle, Office of Domestic and Sexual Violence; Angela Romero, Salt Lake City Unity Center, Salt Lake CAP Head Start Nurturing Fathers Program, Target group, and DelaCruz & Associate’s Olga Castañeda. The media and public are invited and encouraged to attend.
