Established in 1993, California Institute of Health & Social Services, Inc. is a 501© (3) social service agency. The mission of CIHSS is to preserve the family structure and increase the quality of care to children and families within Los Angeles County. CIHSS programs not only serve communities within Los Angles County, but are also inclusive of Lancaster as well as San Bernardino and Riverside communities. We are committed to preventing child abuse and helping families build on existing skills.

 

CIHSS believes that it can be responsive by establishing trusting relationships, engaging parents using a strength-based approach and utilizing nationally recognized premises and practices. 

CIHSS’ vision reflects its commitment to the communities it serves through a continuum of care including foster family care, child care, mental health, chemical dependency, fatherhood, mentoring and other family supportive services. The philosophy of CIHSS is reflected in its Mission/Vision and Core Belief Statements: Strengthen families through creating safe and healthy families – treat the whole family victimized by abuse; child abuse victimizes the whole family and unless the parent, as well as the children, receives the appropriate help, the prevention of future abuse cannot be expected. CIHSS recognizes that there is a significant need to strengthen and enhance services to children and families in Greater Los Angeles communities.

CIHSS’ supportive services are delivered by culturally and ethnically competent staff with the expertise to serve this highly vulnerable population in a respectful and culturally competent manner using a strength-based approach, and ensuring that the family receives a holistic response to meet their needs.
